New foursquare Badge, The Lufthansa Oktoberfest 2011 Badge!

I hadn't received a foursquare badge since August 29th, 2011 when I earned the ESPN Foam Finger Badge.

This past Thursday I decided to have a couple of beers after work with some co-workers at The Dingle House Pub in West Chester, Ohio. When I checked in on foursquare, I earned the Lufthansa Oktoberfest 2011 Badge!

So how do you earn it? Follow Lufthansa Airlines on foursquare and check-in to any German-themed location Worldwide between September 17th and October 3rd.

Don't know how an Irish pub qualifies as a German themed restaurant...but I'll take the badge!

New foursquare Badge, The ESPN Foam Finger Badge!

I'm on a bit of a hot streak. Yesterday I unlocked the Man v. Food Nation Badge, today I unlocked the ESPN Foam Finger Badge.

I have looked at several blogs to try to figure out how I actually earned the badge. I know when I earned it. My wife Tammy and I went to the Cincinnati Reds, Philadelphia Phillies Baseball game tonight at Great American Ball Park. When I checked in on fourquare, I got the badge.

To get the badge I know you have to be following ESPN on foursquare.

The game tonight was nationally televised on ESPN. As best as I can figure if you check-in to a venue that ESPN has left a tip for (and they have left a tip for Great American Ball Park) you earn the badge. I think...Or it may have something to do with the fact that an ESPN event (Monday Night Baseball) was going on there.

New foursquare Badge, The Man v. Food Nation Badge

I knocked this one out pretty quickly.

Follow the Travel Channel on foursquare. Then check into a spot recommended by them which generally will be places Adam Richman and his show Man v. Food has visited.

I got it when I dropped by Schmidt's Restaurant und Sausage Haus in the German Village neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio this afternoon to pick up some of their Bahama Mama Sausages and Bratwurst to grill at home tomorrow.

New foursquare Badge, The Baker's Dozen Badge!

Yesterday I had a desire for a salt bagel, so I stopped in at Bruegger's Bagels in Oakland, on the University of Pittsburgh campus on my way to a meeting.

Didn't know this badge even existed, but got it for checking in! Must have been my 13th bakery check-in.

foursquare Fried Check-in Badge

This has been a good week for foursquare badges. Never thought I would get the Fried Check-in Badge, as I don't go to fried chicken places. Or so I thought.

As it turns out, one of my favorite fast-food chains, Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers in Columbus, Ohio counts, and I got my tenth check-in at a chicken joint this past Friday when I stopped there for lunch, which qualified me for the badge.

Fried Check-in
Battered up! That's 10+ fried chicken outings for you! I believe the technical term for that is Poultry In Motion.

foursquare Pizzaiolo Badge and Super Swarm Badge!

It's pretty rare for me as an active user of foursquare to earn two badges in one day. But I did just that this past Saturday while in Washington D.C. I was there to go to the soccer match between Manchester United and FC Barcelona at FedEx Field. My brothers' Tim and Mike were with me, along with my two sons' Brian and Michael.

The first one I earned was when I checked into Pizzeria Paradiso in Georgetown. My brother Tim recommended this place. Great pizza and one of the best beer selections I have ever seen. Turns out this was the 20th different pizza place I have checked into since becoming a foursquare fanatic:

Pizzaiolo
This badge is reserved only for the true pizza connoisseur: slices from 20 different pizza places. Well done!

The second badge I earned this past Saturday was the Super Swarm badge when I checked into FedEx Field for the soccer match:

50 person foursquare swarms are soooo 2009. We upped it to 250 for the Super Swarm and you still nailed it. Well played!

Two badges in one day! Can't beat that!

New foursquare Badge! The 30 Minutes or Less Badge!

Sweet. Got another foursquare badge tonight!

It's the 30 Minutes or Less Badge. You get it by following the movie 30 Minutes or Less on foursquare, and then checking into a bank or pizza parlor.

The trailer for the movie looks pretty good. It stars Jesse Eisenberg and Danny McBride and is loosely based on a true story that happened in Erie, Pennsylvania in 2003.

I don't see a lot of movies in the theater, but I just might have to see 30 Minutes or Less, especially because it is directed by Ruben Fleischer, who also directed Zombieland, a favorite movie of mine.

Here's the details on the foursquare badge:

30 Minutes or Less
You're either eating a slice of pizza thinking about robbing a bank, robbing a bank wishing you were eating a slice, or robbing a slice while eating a bank. Either way, be sure to catch 30 Minutes or Less, in theaters August 12. Oh yeah, and #DontBlowIt.

foursquare Ten Hundred Badge

foursquare must have just introduced this badge today! I unlocked the badge when I checked in at Voice of America Park in West Chester, Ohio at 7:51 EST this evening. I hadn't heard of it. When I checked to see how many check-in's (Say that three times fast!) I have on foursquare it was 2,523. When I Googled the badge I couldn't find much about it, so it's obviously brand new. Looks like it just came out today, and foursquare is awarding it to people who have hit 1000 or more check-in's.

It had been a while since I got a new foursquare badge, so I'm happy!

Looks like they are giving some discounts on t-shirts at the foursquare store for this badge too!

365 Days of foursquare!

Today marked my one year anniversary of using foursquare! My son Brian turned me on to this last year (Obviously 365 days ago, duh!). Of course I'm hooked. Brian always let's me in on the latest cool stuff.

There's something simple and elegant about foursquare. (http://foursquare.com/) Basically you check into the places you visit using an app on your phone (iPhone, Blackberry, Android), whether it is a restaurant, a store, a sports venue or just a favorite spot. You get points for every check-in, badges for special events, and you can even become Mayor of a location if you check into it more times than anyone else over a rolling 60 day period. You can have foursquare friends, and follow people, brands and companies to earn special discounts when you check in to particular spots. foursquare currently is reporting over 7 million users worldwide!

I like it because I get to keep score.
