That's More Like It! My Weekly Weight Watchers Update, 9/21/11

Last week I posted in my weekly Weight Watcher's update some concern that I had plateaued a bit.

Well at least for this week I may have broken through the plateau. I weighed in yesterday at 241.6 pounds, a loss of 3.2 pounds for the week and a total weight loss of 43.4 pounds for the 25 weeks I have been on the program.

I didn't change my behavior much, just stuck with the program and got my exercise in (brisk walks six of seven days last week, total of 15.8 miles).

I think I need to add some more intense workouts to shake things up a bit. Maybe a little weightlifting?

Lose Weight, Have Better Sex? My Weekly Weight Watchers Update, 9/14/11

I am psyched today.

Not so much because of my weigh-in. I currently weigh 244.8 pounds, an increase of .8 pounds from last week. I am down a total of 40.2 pounds. I seem to have plateaued a bit. But I'm sticking with the plan so I know it will work and am keeping the big picture in mind.

Here's why I'm psyched. Apparently as I lose weight I am going to have more and better sex!

There must be some science behind it. I really don't care if there is as I'm running with it! There are six reasons why this is true:

1) I'll be more sexually confident!

2) My wife might suddenly want more sex!

3) I'll keep blood flowing where it counts!

4) Sessions will last longer!

5) I'll have a higher sex drive!

6) I'll ensure future pleasure!

Here's the article that backs me up on this:

So while you enjoy the article, I'm gonna go find my wife. TAMMY? WHERE ARE YOU?

My Weekly Weight Watchers Update, 9/6/11

Quick update tonight.

I weighed in at my meeting today at 244 pounds. I lost one pound this week, and have lost 41 pounds total since I started Weight Watchers 23 weeks ago.

I was only able to exercise 4 days out of the last 7, so I'm feeling a little bad about that. My goal is to get at least 5 days of exercise a week. I don't think it was because of laziness. It was more about having to travel last week that kept me from getting the time in.

But, I continue to be successful, so I can't complain too much.

Lordy, Lordy, I've Dropped 40! My Weekly Weight Watchers Update, 8/30/11

I weighed in today and lo and behold I have dropped 40 pounds since I began Weight Watchers!

I'm writing this while I'm on a flight from Cleveland to Milwaukee for some business meetings the next two days. What's the best part of losing weight? (At least this evening.) Being able to sit comfortably in coach, cinch up my seat belt and cross my legs.

It's the simple pleasures, really...

Dropped Below 250 Pounds This Week! Weight Watchers, Tracking My Progress Update 8/9/11

I reached a big milestone this week. I dropped below 250 pounds! Woot!

I weighed in today at 247.2 pounds. I lost 3.2 pounds this week and have now lost 37.8 pounds since I started the program 19 weeks ago. I also exercised 5 of 7 days this past week, walking a total of 12.1 miles.

I really thought it wouldn't happen this week. I have stayed committed to the program for the whole 19 weeks and can honestly say I have not cheated myself. I have counted all of the points for the food I have eaten and not gone above my daily or weekly allotment.

I have also been diligent about tracking my exercise points.

But this past Saturday, while I was in Pittsburgh visiting my Dad and helping my daughter Mallory move in to her new place I fell of the wagon. Not completely, but it was about 4:30pm and I was starving. I was staying at my brother Tim's house and we broke out Tostitos and salsa.

Veteran Weight Watcher's members know that salsa is free, but the Tostitos...well let's just say I over indulged. After that we went to a very cool restaurant called the Double Wide Grill. I didn't completely overdo it there, but I did have Reuben egg rolls and fritters, which aren't exactly Weight Watchers friendly (lots of points!).

Tim and I ended up going to see Rise of the Planet of the Apes after dinner. No snacks there, but after the movie I was in the mood for ice cream. I ended up getting a non-fat frozen vanilla yogurt at a place called Razzy Fresh, which would have been OK, except that I decided to throw some mix-ins in. Jimmy's, brownie bites, etc.

Bottom line is that I didn't count the points on any of the stuff I ate Saturday afternoon/evening. But I will give myself credit. On Sunday I got right back on the program. Temptation is a bitch sometimes.

So one day of cheating after 133 days on the program. Am I disappointed in myself? Yes. But it did motivate me to keep going.

Yesterday my wife Tammy decided I needed to get some new clothes-as I am swimming in my work pants and some of my shirts are looking really baggy. Since I'm still a long way from my goal, we decided to go to Kohl's. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on clothes that might not fit me in 6 weeks, but it was nice to go into the men's department and find pants and shirts that weren't the largest sizes Kohl's offers. More motivation. Bought two pairs of pants and two dress shirts.

I'm now back on the program and ready to keep going!

Lost .4 Pounds. Weight Watchers, Tracking My Progress Update, 8/2/11

I didn't post my results last week as I was out of town on vacation. (Planning to post on that in the next couple of days.)

I went to my weekly meeting this morning and weighed in at 250.4 pounds. Next week I should go below the 250 pound mark!

I lost .4 pounds this week, and now have a total weight loss of 34.6 pounds over the 18 weeks I have been on the program. I was in New York City and Washington D.C. this week, and even though I ate very well, I was able to count all my food points and stay within the program, mostly because I did a bunch of walking.

Getting exercise was no problem. I walked 5 out of the past 7 days for a total of 17.8 miles.

Lost 3.8 Pounds! Weight Watchers, Tracking My Progress, 7/19/11

I weighed in today at 252.6 pounds, for a weight loss of 3.8 pounds over the last two weeks (You may remember I didn't make a meeting last week.) and a total weight loss of 32.4 pounds over the 16 weeks I have been on Weight Watchers.

I continue to be happy with my results. I was also able to keep up with my exercise, getting brisk walks in six out of seven days this past week, walking a total of 14.1 miles.

Steady as she goes!

Weight Watchers, Tracking My Progress, 7/12/11

For the first time since rejoining Weight Watchers I'm not going to make a meeting this week.

For me, the meetings are a critical part of the program. The accountability of going to a meeting, weighing in and celebrating both mine and other's success helps to keep me on track. I also find the meetings to be very informative. I would be remiss if I didn't mention that the leaders I have interfaced with at the Weight Watchers location in the Liberty Towne Center in West Chester, Ohio are excellent.

I am traveling out of town all week, so I will have to wait till next week to weigh in. It is the first time I have been on an airplane since joining, and I feel much more comfortable in the seat! I am really noticing a difference physically due to my weight loss.

I exercised 6 of 7 days this past week. All were brisk walks. I walked a total of 14.3 miles.

Next week I will get the tale of the tape!

I Made My 10% Goal! Weight Watchers, Tracking My Progress 7/5/11

I hit my 10% weight loss goal today! This is recognized as a significant milestone at Weight Watchers, and I received my 10% key chain tonight to commemorate the milestone!

My Weight Watcher's 10% Key Chain
With My 25 Pound Loss Award and 5k
Walk Award
At my weigh in today I was down 3 pounds from last week. I weigh 256.4 pounds and have lost 28.6 pounds since I started the program 14 weeks ago.

I exercised 5 of the past 7 days. All of my exercise consisted of brisk walks. I walked a total of 15.2 miles this week.

There are some real benefits to losing 10% of your body weight. They include:

- A healthier heart
- Lower risk of type-2 diabetes
- More pep
- A mental edge

I know for a fact that I feel great. I'm definitely going to need to buy some new clothes!

My next milestone? Losing 40 pounds.

Weight Watchers, Tracking My Progress 6/28/11, Gained .2 Pounds

Well, I weighed in today and actually gained .2 pounds this week. I weigh 259.4 pounds and have lost 25.6 pounds since I started the program 13 weeks ago.

I didn't do as well exercising this week. I exercised 5 of the past 7 days. All of my exercise consisted of brisk walks. I walked a total of 11.7 miles this week.

Everything I have read about healthy weight loss advocates for no more than 2 pounds per week weight loss, so I feel good about losing 25 pounds in 13 weeks. More importantly I physically feel great! Sunday I bought a new belt, as my waist has shrunk to the point that my old belts are way too large.

I followed the program diligently this past week. I will chalk up my very slight weight increase this week to the fact that I was wearing my work clothes to my weekly meeting rather than shorts and a t-shirt the last two meetings and not getting as much exercise as usual.

Hitting my 10% loss of body weight milestone is within reach. Should be within the next two weeks.

Weight Watchers, Tracking My Progress 6/22/11, Down 25 Pounds!

Weighed in tonight at 259.2 pounds. I now have a total weight loss of 25.8 pounds. Got a medal for hitting the 25 pound mark!

Exercised 6 of 7 days this past week. Brisk walks. Went a total of 16.5 miles this week.

With my Dad still being in the hospital up in Columbus, I was a little worried that I wouldn't be able to maintain my discipline and follow the program with all of my travel there this week. But I did. I'm also pleased I got some exercise too.

I Googled the term "25 pounds" as I wanted to find a cool graphic. But I found something even better! Check it out:

Quite Possibly the World's Largest Potato-25 Pounds!

Weight Watchers, Tracking My Progress 6/14/11

Weighed in tonight at 261.2 pounds. I now have a total weight loss of 23.8 pounds.

Exercised 5 of 7 days this past week. Brisk walks. Went a total of 14 miles this week.

Feel pretty good about this week's results, as I had my daughter Mallory's graduation from Ohio State this weekend. The whole family came in, and we had plenty food and drink as part of the celebration. But I stuck to the program, counted all of my points, and stayed within the limits.

Weight Watchers, Tracking My Progress 6/6/11

On April 28th I mentioned that I had started the Weight Watchers program again, and also remarked that I would post my progress from time to time. I think that by posting on my blog, it gives me another way to hold myself accountable.

Me 6/6/11
I have been on the program for 10 weeks now. When I started I weighed 285 pounds.

At today's meeting, I weighed in at 264.8 pounds for a total weight loss of 20.2 pounds.

I didn't take a picture of myself on the day I started, so the picture to the right is me as of today.

Most of my exercise to date has been daily brisk walks, and I walked every day this week a total distance of 16.5 miles.

Hooray me!

Why Women Like Big Guys!

I'm trying to lose some weight so I decided to enroll in Weight Watchers a few weeks ago. I used the program several years ago with good success. Thinking I will randomly toss in my progress on this blog, could help me hold myself more accountable.

But enough about that.

I found this article on weightwatchers.com interesting/weird/helpful kind of. At the least it is pretty humorous for me. Wonder if my wife Tammy (married 24 years and counting) feels this way about me.

Here's the article:

Why Women Like Big Guys

Now for my take:

- You Make Her Feel Safe: Big guys scare off threats. Me? Last time I was in a fight was 5th grade and I sprained my wrist on the first punch.

- You're the "better man" she swore she'd date next time: Translation? Big guys are desperate, and will do anything to get a hot girl, or any girl for that matter.

- She'll assume you'll go the extra mile: Yeah, if we don't get too tired.

- She's not scrutinizing your looks as closely as you're scrutinizing hers: Studies show that physical attractiveness is not number 1 on women's priority list of what they want in a partner. Whew! Glad that's been cleared up.

- She may view you as a good provider: Love this one! Your extra pounds may subconsciously hint to a women, "I can't get to the gym because I'm too busy making money." YES!

- She can relax, without worrying that her scheming friend will nab you: This one is a real ego inflater! Bah, bah, bahhhhhhh....

- You may remind her of her Dad: Now I'm going to have this stuck in my head the next time I try to get lucky.

- She sees your potential: Yep, I've got a lot of upside. No one has a higher ceiling than me!

- You make her feel petite: Time to go shopping in the misses and teens section!

- You know how to live: Being overweight can connote a man is "enjoying fine food because he is enjoying life". That's right. Next time I'm watching TV with my Ruffles and HeluvaGood I will remind my wife of that.
